14 Stolen Bases Lead Coffee County to Saturday Win

An early lead helped Coffee County Red Raiders defeat Cookeville 9-5 on Saturday. Coffee County scored on a single by Nolan Jernigan, an error, and a single by Hayden Hullett in the first inning. 

After Cookeville scored one run in the top of the fourth, Coffee County Red Raiders answered with one of their own. Cookeville scored when Matt Sweeney singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. 

Braden Brown took the win for Coffee County. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four. Carter Mckenzie and Brady Nugent entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. 

Jake Colwell took the loss for Cookeville. Colwell allowed seven hits and six runs over one and one-third innings. Coffee County Red Raiders had ten hits in the game. Aiden Robertson , Hullett , and Jacob Holder each had multiple hits for Coffee County. Holder, Hullett , and Robertson all had two hits to lead the Red Raiders. Coffee County was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Lane Spry made the most plays with eight. Coffee County Red Raiders stole 14 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Hullett led the way with three. 

Cookeville saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Jayden Davis and Sweeney all managed multiple hits for Cookeville.
