Two Grundy County High School students reportedly got into a verbal disagreement on a school bus on March 7.
The twin brothers live just across the county line in Marion County, and one of the 17-year-olds has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, one of the brothers went into their residence and returned with a Colt .45 pistol. He then fired four shots at his brother, striking him in the leg three times. The twins’ grandmother transported the wounded youth to the Tracy City Fire Department, seeking help.
Tracy City Police Chief Charlie Wilder stated that, due to the location of the incident, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office had jurisdiction.
The wounded teen was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for treatment.
