Friends and Family Holiday Concert at Motlow

The annual Vicki, Kyle and Friends Holiday Benefit Concert will be held in Powers Auditorium inside Eoff Hall on the Motlow State Moore County campus on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. There will be a reception beginning at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the concert will go to support the Motlow Music Department.
For the past 10 years, Vicki Collinsworth and Kyle Copeland have put on a benefit Christmas concert each year for various local causes. This year, music education is the cause.
This year’s program features Christmas music from across the globe and throughout history. Concertgoers will be treated to a Latin jazz rave up in one song, brass and strings convening on a modern adaptation of a traditional carol in another, and much more.
“We are really proud of this year’s program,” said Collinsworth. “And it is all made possible by these wonderful musicians that are donating their time!”
Collinsworth, piano, and Copeland, drumming and percussion, are the creative and organizational forces for this and all previous years’ concerts. Both are well known for their creative and musical talents. From choosing the arrangements and selecting the musicians, to setting the program, they both make sure that each concert is a celebration of Christmas through music.
The musicians involved are all accomplished, and most are music educators: Erik Leckrone on percussion and marimba, Greg English on trombone, Jenny English on flute, John Harris and Lauren Clardy on violin, Angie Murdock on bells and percussion, Dr. David Bethea and Jacob Howell on trumpet, John Cook on guitar, bouzouki and percussion; and Baily Johnstone on bass guitar and upright bass.
The concert is free to attend; however, reservations are required, and seats are filling up fast; call 931-393-1696 for reservations.
Donations are appreciated and will benefit the Motlow Music Department.
