State Transgender Bill would Force Students to Play School in Sports Categories based on their Sex at Birth

A state lawmaker wants to make sure transgender students are playing sports based on their sex at birth.
State Representative Bruce Griffey recently introduced House Bill 1572. The bill would make it law that Tennessee transgender students that participate in sports categories be based the sex on their birth certificate.
Griffey says it’s to ensure that there’s fairness in sports competitions throughout the state.
If the bill becomes law, any school or state official who knowingly violates the ban could be fined $10,000.
