More than six months after the number for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline dropped from 10 digits to three, data shows more Tennesseans are reaching out for help.
About 21,000 Tennesseans have made calls to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline since its launch in July 2022.
That’s an increase of about 500 calls per month over the previous 10-digit National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number.
Anyone who reaches out to 988 can remain completely anonymous. People can also access 988 services without sharing their location.
