After Debating between the School System and Sheriff’s Office, Grundy County one step closer to having SROs in All Schools

Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter says he’s signed off on an agreement to put SROs in every school in the district.

The sheriff’s office says starting SRO pay is around $18 an hour.

While the school wants to pay on a per diem basis of $125.77 a day or roughly $15 an hour.

Another point of dispute in the agreement is payment for extracurricular activities, which the sheriff says is not included in the district’s proposed agreement.

Sheriff Gunter told us Friday that he signed the agreement after deciding he would make up the difference in pay using funds from the sheriff’s office.

The agreement now awaits the district’s signature.
