Arnold AFB Announces Employee Positive for COVID-19

AEDC leadership was notified Saturday, June 13th that an AEDC employee who performs work on Arnold AFB in Bldg. 929 (C-Plant Control Room) and has an office in Bldg. 922 received results of a positive COVID-19 test on the evening of June 12th. He was last present on the job site during second shift on June 8th. Although he reported to work at Arnold AFB on June 9th, prior to exiting his vehicle he was contacted and informed that a family member had tested positive. He contacted his supervisor and left the base immediately without exiting his vehicle. He is currently asymptomatic and is at home in self-isolation.

Bldg. 929 and Bldg. 922 are being disinfected according to CDC cleaning protocols. Everyone who was working in these locations has been notified and contact tracing has been completed. Three employees who were in close contact with this employee while at an off-site event have been tested and will remain home in isolation for 14 days.
The AEDC leadership team is committed to safeguarding the health of the workforce, preserving our ability to provide for national defense, and taking care of each other.

AEDC leadership will remain vigilant in our efforts to monitor cases of COVID-19 on our installations and in our local communities and respond appropriately to mitigate risk. This is an unprecedented and dynamic environment that demands vigilance, discipline, and robust communication. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your supervisor or someone in your leadership chain to ensure those concerns are addressed.
All AEDC personnel and their families must continue to practice social distancing and proper hygiene as the best way to prevent the spread of the virus. This includes washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. People should not shake hands and should routinely disinfect all commonly used surfaces. Also, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands and avoid close contact with those who are sick.
Airmen are still directed to maintain a 6-foot distance from others while on base and will wear masks when unable to maintain this mandatory 6-foot distance and in common areas.
