On Thursday June 30th, 2022, at approximately 3:00pm Franklin County Sheriff’s Office personnel, while attempting to serve a criminal warrant, engaged in a barricaded suspect situation at 496 Sarvis Branch Rd. in the Estill Springs.

Authorities did attempt to deploy tear gas at which time the Phillip Matthew Elliott allegedly discharged at firearm in the direction of law enforcement officers. A second attempt was made to deploy tear gas and once again Elliott allegedly discharged a firearm at law enforcement officers.

Verbal communication was established with the suspect and eventually Elliott was taken into custody.
