Best Warrior Competition will be in Moore County early Friday Morning

On Friday (July 29, 2022) between the hours of 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. there will be US National Guard members competing to qualify for The US Best Warrior Competition.

Moore County was chosen as a final leg to this event, and around 15 elite soldiers from all over the country will be performing a Ruck March totaling about 16 miles.

They will begin at the Moore County High School, down Highway 55 and across the square. From there, runners will be following the Oak Barrel Marathon route with slight modifications to Grammer Hill, Hwy 50 to Coffee Creek then back to Tanyard Hill.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office will accompany the soldiers with emergency equipment activated, and there will be additional servicemen at intersections along the route for support. The run will end back on the square around 8 a.m. In addition, there will be other support personnel arriving by aircraft in Wiseman Park so please do not be alarmed.

If you encounter these events on the roadways, please be cautious and proceed around emergency vehicles when directed or when safe to do so.

For questions or concerns, please contact our dispatch 931-759-7323.
