Coffee Co. Commissioners Approve Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution

Coffee County commissioners voted Tuesday night to approve a resolution that makes the county a Second Amendment sanctuary. This is sometimes known as a gun sanctuary. This refers to states, counties, or localities in the United States that have adopted laws or resolutions to prohibit or impede the enforcement of certain gun control measures perceived as violating the Second Amendment, such as universal gun background checks, high capacity magazine bans, assault weapon bans, red flag laws, etc.
The commission also voted on a resolution to not allow refugees to re-settle in Coffee County. Both resolutions were approved by unanimous votes.
One commissioner reminded other leaders and a standing room only crowd that these votes were only symbolic. Another commissioner stated that these resolutions do not change any laws in any way. This only shows support of the two issues.
Other commissioners stated how proud they were that the resolutions passed by a unanimous vote.
