Coffee County and Tullahoma Split in Competitive District 8-AAA Championships

On Friday night, in front of a vocal crowd, the Coffee County Raiders and Lady Raiders split against arch rival Tullahoma girls and boys in the District 8-AAA Championship matchup at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.

The Lady Raiders of Coffee County defeated the Lady Wildcats of Tullahoma in a competitive matchup 39-26. Coffee County struck first against Tullahoma with a 10-0 lead over the Lady Cats at the end of the first quarter. Lady Raiders continued to dominate the court going into the locker room at the half 18-2 over Tullahoma. The Lady Cats started gaining momentum on Coffee County but still trailed as the Lady Raiders ended the third quarter on top 28-12. The Lady Cats hung tough and battled hard, but the Lady Raiders stayed strong to end the District 8-AAA Championship on top. Lady Raiders Bella Vinson lead the way for Coffee County by notching 13 points on the night. Kailyn Farrell posted 11 points on the night for the Lady Cats.

The Tullahoma Wildcats boys squad defeated the Red Raiders of Coffee County in an aggressive matchup 62-42. The Wildcats and Raiders both came out strong ending the first quarter of play tied 9-9. The Wildcats kept pace and pulled ahead by 3 points to end the second quarter on top 22-19. The Raiders continued to fight hard but the Wildcats remained on top to increase their lead to end the third quarter 35-29. Coffee County despite trailing hung tough in the fourth quarter but the Wildcats extended their lead to end the ball game District 8-AAA Champions. Krys Uselton lead the Wildcats in scoring posting 19 points to help Tullahoma secure the win. Coffee County Trenton Scrivnor notched 16 points for the Red Raiders.

Lady Raiders Elli Chumley and Chloe Gannon were named to the All District 8-AAA Tournament team along with Bella Vinson earning MVP for Coffee County. Lady Cats Kailyn Farrell and Mckenna Buckner were named to the All-District 8-AAA Tournament Team for Tullahoma. Wildcats Ryan Scott and Joe Duncan were named to the All District 8-AAA Tournament Team along with Krys Uselton earning MVP for Tullahoma. Red Raiders Trenton Scrivnor and Connor Shemwell were named to the All District 8-AAA Tournament Team for Coffee County.

Tullahoma girls and boys will play at home on Monday with the Lady Cats taking on Riverdale and the Wildcats boys squad facing off against Stewarts Creek. Coffee County Lady Raiders are set to host Rockvale on Monday at 6pm followed by the Red Raiders boys squad taking on Riverdale.
