Coffee County Commission selects New County Court Clerk, District 3 Commissioner and Blocks Rock Quarry

Coffee County Commission met on Tuesday night for full commission meeting.

Commissioners voted not to approve the latest proposal for a rock quarry in the county. Hawkins Asphalt from Bedford County wants to build a quarry on privately owned land in Beechgrove. The proposal to re-zone the land to operate the quarry was denied.

In a close vote, commissioners voted fill the vacancy of the County Court Clerk with Jenny Anthony, who currently works in the office. She will serve until the next election. Also running for consideration was Melissa O’Gwynn. She has been leading the office since the retirement of Heather Duncan. Tullahoma Alderman Jenna Amacher was also up for consideration.

Manchester resident Claude Morris was selected the new District 3 County Commissioner. He takes over for Todd Crockett who moved from the area. Also, up for consideration were Mike Stein, Julie Anderson and former Manchester alderman Mike Anderson.
