DREMC Offers Writing Contest for High School Juniors

Duck River Electric Cooperative (DREMC) invites high school juniors across the cooperative’s service area to participate in this year’s Washington Youth Tour Writing Contest by describing in 900 words or less how electric cooperatives give their communities “The Power to Be.” The prize for winning students is an unforgettable trip to Washington, D.C., where they will join hundreds of other students from across the country to tour monuments and memorials while learning about our nation’s rich history.
DREMC’s top winner will also have an opportunity to help pay for his or her college education if chosen to receive a $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000 scholarship awarded by the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association for the state’s top-judged stories.
To be eligible, students must be high school juniors whose households receive electricity from DREMC. They also must meet the guidelines established for the program. For contest requirements and submission deadlines, contact Connie Potts at 931-680-5881.
