A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported early Sunday morning in Franklin County.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake was recorded at 3:33 a.m. central time, about 4.3 miles southeast of Sewanee. The epicenter was approximately 20 miles from the Alabama border.
A separate USGS report stated a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the same location one minute later, at 3:34 a.m. It was at a depth of 4 miles.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
