Former Coffee County Sheriff Candidate is New SRO with City of Manchester Police

The Manchester Police Department welcomed its newest officer on Monday night. Alethia Smartt-Rawn will serve as School Resource Officer (SRO) at Westwood Middle School. Officer Smartt-Rawn said she’s excited for a fresh, new start.

She comes from The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department where she served for nearly 4 years as an SRO at North Coffee Elementary. Before working in Coffee County, Smartt-Rawn worked as an SRO in the Bedford County school system. She was also a recent candidate for Coffee County Sheriff.

In a statement from the Manchester Police Department; “Smartt-Rawn will be an invaluable asset to our department and to our SRO program.”

Leah Carrick who was serving as the SRO at Westwood Middle will remain at the department as she had requested to return to the patrol division.
