Four Injured in Hwy 55 Crash

Last Thursday evening (March 31, 2022) wreck on Highway 55 sent four to the emergency room.

According to Trooper Rodney Whiles of the Tennessee Highway Patrol around 7;40pm a 2015 Peterbilt tractor trailer, driven by Jackie Whitmore of McMinnville, was backing into his residence on Manchester Highway when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by 41 year-old Michael Simms of Manchester and a 2020 Nissan Murano, driven by 60 year old Evelyn Carr of Rickman.

Whiles said both drivers told him that, without the proper reflectors on the trailer and with it being dark, they did not see the trailer until it was too late. Whiles added that the way they hit the trailer they were very lucky it didn’t turn into a tragic situation.

Each vehicle had a juvenile occupant and all four were taken to River Park with non-life threatening injuries.
Whitmore was cited for failure to yield and reckless endangerment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
