Identity Now Known of Grundy Co. Woman Found Hanging in Woods; Sheriff also Concerned Over 6 overdoses/3 Fatal in Recent Days

Christina Coffelt

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the death after she was found on Tuesday hanging from a tree.

Sheriff Clint Shrum has identified the 27-year-old female as Christina Coffelt from Grundy County. She was found by someone riding a 4-wheeler in a wooded area near Red Barn Road in Gruetli-Laager.

Sheriff Shrum says foul play cannot be ruled out at this time.

On a side note, the small county has now seen 6 overdoses over just the last ten days. Three of those were fatal.

Sheriff Shrum is asking for the public’s help to identify what kind of bad drugs could be going around. If you can help, call (931) 692-3860.
