Just Call Them Champs! Lady Raiders Win Region Championship

For the sixth time this season the Coffee County Lady Raiders took on the Warren County Lady Pioneers, but this was for the Region 3-4A softball championship. Coffee County picked up their fourth win over Warren County this season, 6-2.

The Lady Raiders put two runs on the board in the first inning. Kiya Ferrell led off with a single, followed by a triple from Olivia Evans and a single from Haidyn Campbell.

Coffee County scored two more in the fourth. Channah Gannon led off with a towering homerun into the trees in leftfield. Kaitlyn Davis walked, and Madison Pruitt checked in to courtesy run and later scored on a Jada Bowen single.

In the sixth the Lady Raiders added two more. Paisley Campbell led off with a singled and her pinch-runner Ava McIntosh would score three batters later when Ferrell tripled. Evans who went 4-for-4 doubled in Ferrell and Coffee County led 6-0.

The Lady Pioneers were able to push across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but then Davis and the Lady Raider defense shutdown Warren County for the championship. Davis got the win in the circle. She allowed 6 hits, 2 runs and struck out 3.

Evans was named the Sir Pizza Player of the Game with her four-hit night, she also had an RBI and scored a run. Ferrell added three hits, scored twice and added an RBI. Haidyn Campbell was 2-for2 and an RBI. Coffee County racked up 12 hits, giving them 24 in two games this week.

The Lady Raiders (23-14) will play host to Smyrna on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Terry Floyd Field. The Lady Bulldogs (27-7) lost to Stewarts Creek 7-5 on Wednesday night. This is the sectional round of the TSSAA playoffs with the winner earning a berth in the state tournament in Murfreesboro.
