Manchester City Election Update

Last week Manchester Alderman Chris Elam resigned from his leadership role with the city after recently moving outside the city limits. Elam served the city for past six years.

The question of how the city will fill that seat to serve on the board of Mayor and Aldermen has an answer.

On Target News spoke with Coffee County Administrator of Elections Andy Farrar and he said he had received information from city attorney Gerald Ewell concerning the city charter of how to handle this type of situation.

According to the charter, the person that receives the 4th highest vote total in the August 4 election will serve in that capacity. Eight people had qualitied for 3 open seats. With the resignation of Elam, four candidates will be selected.

Here is a list of those that voters can choose from: Julie Anderson, David Bradley, Helen J Debellis, Joey Hobbs, Mark Messick, Claude S. Morse, Donny N. Parsley and James Threet.
