Statement from City School Officials:
It is with sad and heavy hearts that we at Westwood Middle School and Manchester City Schools share news that Mr. Doug Roorda passed away in the last 24 hours. Although those are the only details we have at this time, we send our condolences to all of Mr. Roorda’s family, friends and former students. Mr. Roorda was a dedicated coach and teacher, with over 30 years of service to our community. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
If you feel that your student needs support in processing this news over the next few days, WMS staff will be available to speak with your student with your permission. Mrs. Paschall and Mrs. Geary can also provide crisis hotline numbers to you and names of community providers that may be able to assist your student in processing any grief reactions to this news.
