Manchester VFW to Celebrate Receiving All-American Post

Manchester’s Veterans of Foreign Wars All-American Post 10904 will take place this Saturday August 27, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Coffee County Veterans Building, 130 Shelton Road in Manchester. The public is invited to help celebrate VFW Post 10904’s historic achievement in being the only VFW Post in Tennessee history to not only receive the coveted All-American Post designation three years in a row… but now four years in a row.

This means the celebration is now scheduled for the last Saturday of the month: the same day as the VFW Fundraiser Breakfast. To reduce the burden on our volunteer members, August 27 will feature our first-ever VFW Fundraiser Brunch, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM, which will flow right into the All-American Celebration. Plan to sleep in a little; enjoy a hearty, all-you-can-eat breakfast for only $6.50; and make a day of enjoying great food, fun, friends and music with your record-shattering Veterans of Foreign Wars!

The VFW All-American Post Award goes to top-performing VFW Posts globally to recognize those Posts achieving the absolute highest standards: including support for veterans, their families, and the communities they serve. These Posts are considered the very “best of the best”. VFW officials past and present, from state and national levels, along with our elected officials, will be here to congratulate Post & Auxiliary members on their incredible accomplishment.

A ceremony will take place from 1 to 1:30 PM, honoring those who were instrumental in the Post’s latest achievement. Special guests will include Captain Bill Robinson (longest-held enlisted POW in the Vietnam War); VFW Past National Commander John Furgess; and VFW Past State Commanders Brian Walker and Mike Rhew.

This will be an open house event and the perfect opportunity for members of the public to tour the Coffee County Veterans Building; ask questions; and gain more insight into the many ways our local veterans continue to serve their communities. Young people can gain valuable perspective on the true cost of the freedoms they enjoy. Food vendors will be on site.

“Manchester has been so gracious in supporting VFW Post 10904, and this celebration is our way of giving back,” said Post Commander, retired Navy Chief Kimberly King. “Our members want to share this achievement with everyone, while recognizing the top supporters who helped us accomplish things above & beyond everyone’s expectations. I hope everyone joins us for this fantastic celebration!”
