After a recommendation from Director of Coffee County Schools Dr. Charles Lawson, the Coffee County School Board voted Monday to require everyone at county schools to wear a mask or face covering. The new requirement takes effect on Wednesday Aug. 12.
Masks shall be worn in instances where social distancing cannot be followed. There will be medical exceptions, according to the statement.
The board also discussed including language related to teachers and bus drivers having discretion in enforcing the requirements in certain situations.
The board approved the statement 5-1.
