Metro Moore County and Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) recently partnered to complete a full LED streetlight upgrade of the community.
The upgrade provides brighter, more efficient streetlighting—improving safety and lowering the county’s electric bill.
DREMC provided the labor and materials for the upgrade, eliminating any upfront expense for the community. The extended lifespan of 15 to 20 years for the bulbs results in less maintenance and reduced need for bulb replacement, while also achieving an approximate 30% reduction in energy use.
“The square and surrounding neighborhoods look fantastic after dark,” said Metro Mayor Bonnie Lewis.
DREMC continues to partner with interested towns and cities with whom they have an existing relationship to achieve LED streetlight conversions.
