Moore County Blue Raiders fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 3-2 loss to Grundy County on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets scored on a double by Braxton Norris in the first inning and a double by Jaden Ruehling in the second inning.
Pitching from the hill was strong on both sides. Yellow Jackets pitchers struck out eight, while Moore County sat down five.
Grundy County Yellow Jackets opened up scoring in the first inning, when Norris doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Jarom Huntley earned the win for Grundy County. The hurler went five and a third innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five. Alex Killian threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jace Long took the loss for Moore County. The righty went two innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Jacob Baker went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Moore County in hits. Ruehling led Grundy County with three hits in four at bats.
