Shelbyville Golden Eagles fell to Tullahoma Wildcats 14-13 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 13 with Tullahoma batting in the bottom of the eighth when Dixon singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Shelbyville collected 12 hits and Tullahoma had 12 in the high-scoring affair.
Shelbyville Golden Eagles opened scoring in the first inning, when Griffin Williams’s sac fly scored one run for Shelbyville.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Tullahoma tied things up at 13 when Duncan singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Shelbyville tallied seven runs in the fifth inning. Shelbyville Golden Eagles big bats in the inning were led by singles by Raine Sims and AJ Parker, a triple by Hunter Wilhelm, by Caden Thomas, and an error on a ball put in play by Aiden Edwards.
Tullahoma Wildcats scored six runs in the fourth inning. Tomlin, Dixon, Dillehay, Morris, and Duncan all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Tomlin was the winning pitcher for Tullahoma. The hurler surrendered zero runs on one hit over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero. Eggleston and Sheffield entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Logan Roberts took the loss for Shelbyville. The southpaw lasted one and one-third innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.
Melton started the game for Tullahoma. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out two and walking zero Parker started the game for Shelbyville. The righty went three innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out two
Shelbyville collected 12 hits. Parker, Sims, and Brady O’Neal all managed multiple hits for the Golden Eagles. O’Neal, Sims, and Parker each collected three hits to lead Shelbyville.
Tullahoma Wildcats collected 12 hits on the day. Tomlin, Emory, Duncan, and Dixon each racked up multiple hits for Tullahoma.
