Wildcats Win Two on Warrior Classic Opening Day

Tullahoma baseball won a pair of games Thursday at Siegel to open play in the Warrior Classic.

In the opening contest the Wildcats overpowered Memphis Overton 17-6. Tullahoma struck first with four in the first inning before Overton rallied with 6 in the second to take the lead. The Cats responded with a 10 run third to retake the lead and control of the game. They plated three more in the fourth to claim the win via run rule in five innings.

D.J. Dillehay led the charge offensively for Tullahoma with a four RBI performance. The Cats totaled fourteen hits in the contest led by Evan and Ragen Tomlin who each had three. Dillehay, Brody Melton, and Ashton Dodd also had multiple hits for Tullahoma.

In the nightcap the Wildcats had to rally to top Siegel 5-4. The Stars scored 2 in the first and held a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth when Tullahoma plated a pair to tie the game. Siegel retook the lead 3-2 in the fifth. The Cats tied it again scoring one in the sixth and took their first lead of the game with a two-run seventh. Siegel got within a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Tullahoma held on for the one run victory. Brody Melton and Evan Tomlin led Tullahoma with two hits each.

The pair of wins improve the Wildcats to 8-3 on the year. They’ll play David Crocket at 9:30 am and Beech at 11 am Saturday at Blackman High School to close out the Warrior Classic Tournament.
