Normandy Adds One-Man Police Department

A new police department has begun operations in the area. Normandy now has one officer, a chief, and his name is Jason Freeman, a former Bedford County sheriff’s deputy.
According to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette, Freeman agreed to $12.01 per hour because this will help him retain his police officer certification. Freeman works full time in security at Arnold Air Force Base, but that job does not fulfill the certification requirements of Tennessee Police Officer Standards and Training.
Normandy leaders say this was done for better traffic control and public safety.
