Results from the Franklin County Primary

Chris Guess defeated Dave Van Buskirk in the Republican mayor’s race 1,790-1,547. Independent candidates Eddie Clark and Gene F. Snead Jr. will run against Guess in the Aug. 4 general election. 

Greg King defeated Dean Binkley 1,552-1,289 in the Republican sheriff’s race. Incumbent Independent Sheriff Tim Fuller and Independent Brian Brewer will also run in August.

William “Billy” Anderson upset Incumbent Republican Adam Casey for the District 2, Seat A county commission position, 242-234.

Republican James Cantrell defeated Reggie Dotson 251-234 in District 3. Incumbent Independent Scottie L. Riddle will face Cantrell in August.

The Republican primary finished in a tie between Tyler Bauer and John W. Skidmore with 205 votes each and Ricky Tipps finishing with 156 votes. Once a winner is decided they’ll face Independent J. M. Hogan McDonald in the Aug. 4 general election.
