Manchester Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Hwy 55 Thursday afternoon at 12:30pm. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a fully involved truck on fire on the side of the road. Prior to the fire department’s arrival, the driver and passenger unhooked a travel trailer. At the same time, Tullahoma Fire and Hickerson Station Volunteers were also dispatched. The incident commander advised the Coffee County Communication Center to advise Hickerson Station that they could disregard as they had the scene taken care of. Tullahoma crews arrived on the scene and were also released by command as the fire was almost extinguished.
Manchester Fire Chief George Chambers thank Manchester Police, Tullahoma Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol for their assistance as traffic had to be stopped while firemen controlled the scene. The truck is a total loss.
