The City of Tullahoma is participating in an engagement and input process that involves the entire community. The City of Tullahoma and the Walker Collaborative Consultants are updating the Comprehensive Plan to guide future development for the City over the next 20 years. A Comprehensive Plan is a visionary document that helps guide decisions in areas such as land use, economic development, housing, transportation and more. The public’s opinions and ideas during this process will help City officials draft the Think Tullahoma 2040 Comprehensive Plan. We are asking for citizens to provide feedback in a series of public meetings and a community survey. The survey can be submitted at tullahomatn.gov, or contact the Community Development Director, Winston Brooks, for a printed copy.
“Public input is critical to the success of the Comprehensive Plan update,” said Senior Planner, Mary Samaniego. “Once the plan is adopted, it will be considered for any new project in Tullahoma. Our residents can have a large impact on the future of Tullahoma by participating and providing input during this process.”

These meetings are come and go. The format is as follows:
5:00 – Ongoing: Map Exercise
A base map of the community, to include labels for key landmarks to orient people, will be pinned/taped to a wall. Participants will use color-coded adhesive dots to indicate the following information: where they live, where they work (if in town), where they live and work (if they work at home), where they attend school (if applicable) and where they go for fun.
5:15 Short Presentation
Providing a project overview and initial findings.
5:45 – 6:15: Solicitation of Input from Community
6:15 – 7:30: Open House
At their own pace, citizens are invited to visit with consultant team members who will be manning the following topic-based stations:
- Natural & Cultural Resources
- Land Use & Development
- Mobility
- Economic Development & Housing
The Think Tullahoma 2040 Comprehensive Plan tag line is take-off to tomorrow, and it will be a way to leverage what we have accomplished, refine areas of focus, identify important goals, and align our priorities with our future vision. A strong Comprehensive Plan is used to guide everyday transactions and decisions.
“Hearing from the public is critical to the success of the Comprehensive Plan,” said Community Development Director, Winston Brooks. “It is important to attend to not only provide input, but to also learn about the plan and how it will be used in the future.”
The next public meeting is tentatively scheduled for November.
