Two people walking Struck by Vehicle on Hwy 53 in Manchester on Sunday

Around 5:30am Sunday morning a male and female were walking on the sidewalk along Hwy 53 north near Powers Storage and Ewell St.

Manchester Police reports that a man driving a Ford Expedition struck the two pedestrians.

The female, Carletta Carter, age 44, apparently received serious injuries and male had non-life-threatening wounds.

The driver of the Ford did stop and rendered aid.

Manchester Police reports that criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Carter was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga where she was at last report listed as stable but critical condition.
