Area Schools begin to prepare for Upcoming Sports Season

Area high schools are moving back into off-season practice and tryouts, as athletes return to the practice field after a period of non-activity due to the coronavirus pandemic. Coffee County and Tullahoma teams began work the week of May 26, while Franklin County has targeted June 1 as its start date.  Don Rhoton, Athletics Director at Franklin County High School, emphasized that Phase One guidelines will be strictly followed during workouts, including limiting participants to no more than ten per group, remaining six feet apart, screenings prior to beginning work, logging those tested, with athletes required to come dressed and bring their own water. “In groups of ten, they will stay with that group the entire time and equipment will be wiped down and sanitized between sessions,” he said. Workouts may continue until June 19, after which teams will enter a two-week dead period..
