
Pete Rose, who holds Major League Baseball records for career hits, career singles, career games played, career at-bats and career plate appearances was in Manchester on Saturday night.
Around 700 fans showed up at the Coffee County Fairgrounds to have pictures made with the baseball great and enjoy a meal.
Rose was spectacular in a Q & A with Coffee County girls’ basketball coach Joe Pat Cope. Rose kept everyone laughing and having fun and then took questions from the audience. After finishing that portion of the event Rose signed hundreds of autographs.
Rose was gracious with his time as he spent over an hour answering questions and thanked the person who made it possible for him to be in Manchester, businessman Jeff Lowe.
The former leader of Cincinnati’s Big Red Machine was brought to town to help raise funds for Head Coach Kyle Douglas’ Coffee County High School Red Raider baseball team.
