Bedford County Highway Department releases information on continued Winter Storm Cleanup

The ice and snowstorms of the week of February 15 created havoc for the citizens of Bedford County. Not only a lack of power to several areas but downed trees and ice made travel impossible.

Crews from the Bedford County Highway Department worked diligently through several nights. Those same crews are still in the process of clearing limbs and debris from the sides of county roads. To date, they have covered 221 miles of the nearly 700 miles of county roads.

The Bedford County Highway Department thanks fire departments, Duck River Electric and emergency personnel who provided assistance in the cleanup effort.

It will take several weeks to clean the damaged areas. Please be patient, as the Highway Department is working as quickly as possible to clean the county roads.
