Busy Weekend for the Lady Raiders and Lady Cats

On Friday and Saturday, the Coffee County softball team hosted the Coffee County Classic softball classic. The Lady Raiders and Tullahoma participated.

On Friday, Coffee County was down 4-1 to possibility the best team in the state, Baylor from Chattanooga.

In the 6th inning, the last inning before the 1 ½ hour time limit the Lady Raiders got home runs from Haidyn Campbell and Kaitlyn Davis to tie the game.

The contest went into the international tie-breaker before Baylor pushed across the winning run in the 8th.

In game two for Coffee County on Friday, the ladies took on Covington out of Tipton County.

The hard-fought game was tie at five in the 5th inning when the time limit hit.

The Lady Raiders took a commanding 11-5 lead in the sixth. In the bottom half of the inning the Lady Chargers were able to score six and win the back-and-forth game, 12-11.

Senior 3B Kiya Ferrell was 3-for-4 3 RBI and scored 3 times. Jada Bowen had a nice day at the plate going 2-for4 and 4 RBI.

On Saturday, Coffee County took on Boyd Buchanan at Dave King Park.

The Lady Bucks took an early 4-1 lead after 2 innings, but the Lady Raiders would roar back to win, 6-4.

Emily Schuster was 2-for-3 and knocked in 2 runs. Kaitlyn Davis added 2 hits and was the winning pitcher.

Next up Coffee County took on Greenbrier in the final game of the classic.

The Lady Raiders had a huge 5th inning as they score 6 times to pick up their 17th win on the season (17-12).

Olivia Evans and Chesnie Cox had 3 hits each. Evans added 2 RBI, 2 runs and 3 stolen bases. Cox had an RBI, scored 3 times and stole a base.

Freshman Sammy Cothran went the distance for the win.

Coffee County has a busy week ahead. On Monday and Thursday, they host Franklin County and Tuesday the ladies travel to Warren County. You can hear Thursday’s game on The Rooster 101.5 FM.

On Friday, the Tullahoma Lady Cats competed hard against Riverdale before falling 6-4.

Emeri Saunders, Aleigha Raby and Zaylan Spinner each had an RBI. Saunders and Kylee Holt had 2 hits each.

On Saturday, the Lady Cats lost to Chattanooga’s Boyd Buchanan 12-1.

Mallorie Stone had a hit and an RBI for Tullahoma.

The Lady Cats will host Shelbyville on Monday at 6 p.m. You can hear the action on 93.9 The Duck with Will Rabb.
