Cannon County man being Served Warrants from Coffee County leads police on High-Speed Pursuit

A man who led police on a high-speed chase thru Cannon and Warren Co. Tuesday morning has been identified.
49 year-old Daniel Smithson of Cannon Co. was taken into custody in Morrison.

The Cannon Co. Sheriff’s Department officers arrived at Smthson’s residence in the Woodland Community around 8:30am to serve warrants from Coffee County.

Smithson led authorities through several roads in Cannon and Warren Co. He was on Highway 287 coming into Morrison when he turned on Ball Park Road and became stuck and took off on foot and was quickly apprehended.

Smithson is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and resisting arrest. He’s being held in the Cannon Co. Jail on bond. He will appear in court on Monday.
