The Coffee County Commission met on Tuesday night and one of the main agenda items was the vacant General Sessions Judge Part 1 position. Judge Tim Brock passed away in November leaving that job open.
Only four Republican candidates qualified to run for the judge’s seat in the March primary, no Democrats or Independents qualified to seek the seat.
The commission decided to appoint the person who wins the primary to an interim position until the winner takes over as judge on Sept. 1, 2020. The winner will serve out the rest of Judge Brock’s term, which ends in the fall of 2022.
