Coffee County and Tullahoma Split to Close Regular Season

Cross county rival spilt their regular season finale Friday night in Tullahoma.  

In the girl’s game fourth ranked Coffee County survived a second half surge from the Lady Cats to win their 23rd straight 47-37 and take the season series with Tullahoma.  

Elli Chumley and Chloe Gannon each scored 11 to lead the Lady Raiders offensively. Chumley’s key baskets in the 2nd half earned her Sir Pizza Player of the Game honors for Coffee County.  

Lucy Nutt, who led Tullahoma’s comeback attempt finished the game with 13 to pace the Lady Cats and was named the Tullahoma Sir Pizza Player of the Game.  

The Lady Raiders finish the regular season 26-3 and 9-0 in District 6-4A they will open up the postseason Monday at 6:00 vs Franklin County in the District Semifinals. You can hear that game on The Rooster 101.5 with pregame coverage starting at 5:50 and our broadcast presented by Dr. David Florence. All four teams in District 6-4A automatically qualify for Region Tournament.  

The Lady Cats wrap up the regular season at 16-8 and 7-2 in District 8-3A. As the runner up in the district They have earned a first-round bye in the 8-3A tournament and have also qualified for the region tournament. They will begin the postseason Thursday at 7:30 vs the winner of Lawrence County and Spring Hill Thursday at home at 7:30. You can hear that game on 93.9 The Duck with pregame set for approximately 7:20. That broadcast is presented by Coffee County Bank.  

In the night cap the homestanding Tullahoma Wildcats survived a third quarter push from Coffee County to dominate the fourth and pick up a 54-43 to sweep the season series with the Red Raiders.  

Krys Uselton scored 11 to lead the Wildcats balanced offensive attack. Ethan Hargrove and Grant Chadwhick added 9 and Ryan Scott and Deandre Jekins added 8 each. Uselton was named the Sir Pizza Player of the Game for Tullahoma.  

Coffee County’s Dayne Crosslin led all scorers with 19 points and Connor Shemwell added in 13 for the Red Raiders. Crosslin was Coffee County’s Player of the Game presented by Sir Pizza.  

The Wildcats close the regular season at 9-15 overall and 5-5 in the district. Third seeded Tullahoma will host Spring Hill in the 8-3A Tournament first round Tuesday at 7:00. Coverage on 93.9 The Duck, presented by Coffee County Bank, begins at 6:50.  

The Red Raiders close out the season at 18-8 overall and 7-2 in the district. Second seeded Coffee County opens the 6-4A tournament Tuesday at 7:30 on The Rooster 101.5. That broadcast, which is presented by Dr. David Florence will begin at approximately 7:20.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
