Coffee County baseball defeats Pope John Paul II at home

Coffee County Red Raiders defeat Pope John Paul II 7-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Braden Brown struck out Tyler Robertson to finish off the game. 

The Red Raiders secured the victory thanks to four runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught by Coffee County was led by Lane Spry, Carter Mckenzie, and Wyatt Nugent, who all drove in runs. 

Coffee County fired up the offense in the first inning. Spry doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Pope John Paul II was a single by Chet Lax in the third inning. 

Charlie Pierce led the Red Raiders to victory on the mound. The righty surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out nine. Brown threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. 

Kyler Oathout took the loss for Pope John Paul II. The pitcher allowed one hit and three runs walking zero. 

Coffee County saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Mckenzie, Spry, and Jacob Holder each managed multiple hits for the Red Raiders. Holder, Spry, and Mckenzie all had two hits to lead Coffee County. Lax led Pope John Paul II with one hit in two at bats.
