Coffee County baseball dominates series versus Shelbyville

Jacob Holder shut down the Shelbyville Golden Eagles, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Coffee County Red Raiders to a 12-0 victory on Wednesday. 

Wyatt Nugent collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Coffee County Red Raiders to victory. Nugent singled in the first, doubled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth. 

In the first inning, Coffee County got their offense started. Holder singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. 

Coffee County Red Raiders scored three runs in the fifth inning. Coffee County big bats were led by Lane Spry, Jacob Sherrill, and Nugent, all driving in runs in the frame. 

One bright spot for Shelbyville was a single by Persell in the fourth inning. 

Holder was credited with the victory for Coffee County. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out nine. 

Aiden Edwards took the loss for Shelbyville. The hurler lasted three and a third innings, allowing ten hits and nine runs while striking out four. 

Coffee County Red Raiders tallied 15 hits on the day. Nugent, Braden Brown, Griffin Meeker, Spry, and Nolan Jernigan all managed multiple hits for Coffee County. Nugent led the Red Raiders with four hits in four at bats. Coffee County tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Hayden Hullett led the way with two. Coffee County Red Raiders didn’t commit a single error in the field. Spry had the most chances in the field with eight. 

Persell went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Shelbyville in hits.
