Coffee County Baseball ends season in heartbreaking matchup versus Lawrence County in District 8-AAA Tournament

Tuesday’s game against Lawrence County was a heartbreaker for Coffee County Red Raiders, as they lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Lawrence County batting in the bottom of the sixth when Luke Boswell singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Lawrence County pitchers struck out six, while Coffee County sat down four. 

Lawrence County opened up scoring in the first inning, when Zachery Graves grounded into a double play, but still managed to score one run.

Coffee County evened things up at one in the top of the second inning when Wyatt Nugent ‘s sac fly scored one run for the Red Raiders. 

Boswell was credited with the victory for Lawrence County. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six. 

Jacob Holder took the loss for Coffee County. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out four. 

Braden Brown went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Coffee County in hits. 

Lawrence County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Colton Moore had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Coffee County Red Raiders end their season 21-11 overall and 7-6 in District.
