Coffee County Red Raiders watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-1 loss to Blackman on Saturday. Blackman scored on a single by Jaxon Ward, a single by Ben Turner, a single by Marcos Contreras, and a sacrifice fly by Evan Grant in the first inning.
Coffee County struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Blackman, giving up 11 runs.
Blackman got on the board in the first inning. Ward drove in one when Ward singled.
Ben Gleason was the winning pitcher for Blackman. The pitcher surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Wyatt Nugent took the loss for Coffee County. The righthander went one inning, allowing seven runs on six hits, striking out one and walking zero.
Nolan Jernigan, Hayden Hullett, and Braden Brown each collected one hit to lead the Red Raiders.
Ward led Blackman with two hits in three at bats.
