Coffee County Baseball picks up win versus Franklin County

Coffee County Red Raiders defeated Franklin County 6-5 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three with Franklin County batting in the bottom of the fifth when McKenon Whitsett doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. 

Coffee County got things moving in the second inning, when Jacob Holder singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. 

Red Raiders knotted the game up at five in the top of the seventh inning. Wyatt Nugent ‘s sac fly scored one run for Coffee County. 

Griffin Meeker earned the win for Coffee County. The righty lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out seven and walking one. Braden Brown threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. 

Gattis Henley took the loss for Franklin County. The pitcher surrendered two runs on two hits over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking zero. 

Theron Sons started the game for Franklin County. The hurler surrendered four runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five. 

Coffee County Red Raiders totaled 12 hits in the game. Brown, Meeker, and Nolan Jernigan all managed multiple hits for Coffee County. Brown went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Red Raiders in hits. Coffee County stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Brown led the way with three. 

Franklin County tallied eight hits. Henley and Whitsett each managed multiple hits for Franklin County.
