Coffee County baseball splits in double header versus Central Magnet

Game1

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fourth inning, Coffee County almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-5 to Central Magnet on Friday. Coffee County scored three runs on a home run in the sixth inning. 

Coffee County lost despite out-hitting Central Magnet Tigers Varsity 11 to five. 

Coffee County evened things up at two in the bottom of the third inning when Nolan Jernigan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. 

Central Magnet pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored two runs for Central Magnet and an error scored two runs for Central Magnet. 

Coffee County Red Raiders notched three runs in the sixth inning. Jacob Holder had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Apigian was credited with the victory for Central Magnet. The hurler surrendered five runs on ten hits over five and a third innings, walking one. Flieschman threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Flieschman recorded the last five outs to earn the save for Central Magnet. 

Carter Mckenzie took the loss for Coffee County. The righty went two innings, allowing four runs on one hit and striking out four. Griffin Meeker started the game for Coffee County. Meeker allowed four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out three and walking zero 

Red Raiders hit one home run on the day. Holder had a long ball in the sixth inning. Coffee County Red Raiders tallied 11 hits on the day. Holder, Brady Nugent , Hayden Hullett , and Jernigan each collected multiple hits for the Red Raiders. Holder went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Coffee County in hits. 

Lanza led Central Magnet with two hits in three at bats.

Game 2

Coffee County Red Raiders asserted their will over Central Magnet on their way to an easy 10-2 victory. 

Coffee County Red Raiders got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for Coffee County. 

Coffee County Red Raiders put up four runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Jacob Holder, by Nolan Jernigan, and by Griffin Meeker. 

Braden Brown was the winning pitcher for Coffee County. The righty surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out eight. Charlie Pierce and Brady Nugent entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. 

Drew Melton took the loss for Central Magnet. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out four and walking zero. 

Marcus Collins started the game for Central Magnet. The pitcher surrendered one run on zero hits over one inning, striking out two 

Coffee County Red Raiders socked one home run on the day. Holder had a four bagger in the sixth inning. 

Coffee County Red Raiders racked up eight hits. Wyatt Nugent and Holder each had multiple hits for Coffee County. Holder and Nugent each collected two hits to lead Coffee County.
