It has been confirmed that Coffee County Mayor Gary Cordell has tested positive for COVID-19.
Our news partner the Manchester Times reports that Cordell said, “I have been working from home and I will do the same for several more days.” He will be in quarantine for two weeks.
His symptoms have been relatively mild, he said.
He encouraged everyone to follow social distancing and CDC guidelines.
He told the Times that “We all know this is a very serious matter.”
The active case count for COVID-19 in Coffee County rose to 604 on Sunday.
