Coffee County Softball Scores 35 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Franklin County

In two games heard on Rooster 101.5 on Tuesday night, the Coffee County Lady Raiders took on Franklin County Rebelettes in the final regular season games for 2023.

In game one, Coffee County blew the game open in the first inning with eight runs. The Lady Raiders would make quick work of Franklin County with eight more runs in the second and 5 in the third for a three-inning run rule 21-0 win.

Savannah Cooper went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, and she scored three times. Paisley Campbell had a hit and 4 RBI. Ella Arnold was 2-for-2 with an RBI and crossed the plate for four runs. Channah Gannon contributed two hits, an RBI, and scored a run. Katelyn Anderson had a hit and 2 RBI. Alivia Reel scored three times, and Madison Pruitt had a hit, an RBI, and scored twice.

Katelyn Anderson was the winning pitcher as she threw a one-hitter and had five strikeouts.

In game two, Head Coach Brandon McWhorter emptied the bench and was able to pick up a 14-2 win to finish the regular season 21-7 overall and 9-0 in District 6 Class 4 play.

Jalyn Moran led Coffee County at the plate with a 2-for-2 night and an RBI. Cheyenne Vickers, Aleayia Barnes, Haleigh Skipper, and Kara Wheeler scored two runs each. Ava McIntosh and Wheeler had the other two hits for the Lady Raiders.

Lily Norman was the winning pitcher. The freshman went all five innings, giving up only three hits, two runs (one unearned), walking one, and she had ten strikeouts.

Jocilyn Desmet was 2-for-3 for the Rebelettes in the loss.

The District 6 softball tournament starts Thursday night. Coffee County will host Franklin County at 6 PM. Warren County will also be at home against Shelbyville on Thursday at 6 PM.
