Coffee County Softball to compete in their Third Straight TSSAA Spring Fling

Kaitlyn Davis rounds the bases after crushing her second homer on Friday night.

Senior Kaitlyn Davis had a huge night for the Coffee County Lady Raiders as she and her teammates defeated Smyrna 4-0 in a state sectional game on Friday 4-0.

Davis threw a fantastic game, allowing just two hits in the shutout. At the plate, she singled and blasted her 10th and 11th home runs of the season, giving her 32 in her high school career, a school record. Her two RBI gives her 110 over her four years, which is also a school record.

Willow Carden makes a play at 1st base in the game against Smyrna.

Chesnie Cox had an RBI double that scored Madison Pruitt. On the throw home, the ball got away from the Smyrna players, and Cox scored.

Coffee County, winners of 11 games in a row, will play in the third straight TSSAA Spring Fling state softball championship tournament beginning Tuesday. The 27-7 Lady Raiders will take on Nolensville (39-1-4) in Class 4-A action at 4:30 PM at McKnight Field #2. Rooster 101.5 will be on hand to call the action.
