On Monday, the Coffee County Middle School Lady Raiders softball team earned a berth into the TMSAA Final 4 state tournament with a 2-1 win over Warren County.
Madi Scott was stellar in the pitching circle, only allowing two Lady Pioneer hits in the win. She went all seven innings, allowing one run, and struck out five.
The Lady Raiders scored one run in the third and saw Warren County tie the game in the top of the 7th. Coffee Middle battled back in the bottom half of the inning as Cara Newlin crossed the plate with the winning run.
The Lady Raiders had seven hits in the game, with Kaylee Buckley and Bailey Hale having two hits each.
Coffee Middle will take on Kingsport’s Ross N Robinson Middle School at Drakes Creek Park Field 5 on Friday, beginning at 5 PM, in one of the state semifinal games. Arlington Middle takes on West Wilson in the other at 7:15. The consolation game is at 12:30 PM on Saturday at Field 4, and the championship game is on Field 5 at 1:30 PM.
