The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed additional cases of COVID-19 across the state on Thursday, July 16. The health department reported 2,479 new cases, bringing the state to 71,540 total cases.
Over the last seven days, Tennessee’s average of new daily cases jumped to 1,993, a new record high.
TDH also confirmed 13 additional deaths, bringing Tennessee up to 796 total deaths.
Out of the confirmed positive cases, 41,250 have recovered. Tennessee currently has 29,520 active cases.
The number of patients hospitalized in Tennessee for COVID-19 continues its dramatic rise, now standing at an all-time high of 1,416 patients with confirmed or suspected cases.

*Lincoln County: 0 died; 126 confirmed/probable; 57 recovered; 2,867 negative tests
*Moore County: 0 died; 28 confirmed/probable; 9 recovered; 668 negative tests
*Rutherford County: 40 died; 4,114 confirmed/probable; 1,808 recovered; 31,298 negative tests
*Warren County: 2 died; 189 confirmed/probable; 72 recovered; 4,462 negative tests.
