Down Two Starters and their Head Coach; Raiders fall in Chattanooga

The Coffee County boys’ basketball team competed in the Dr. Pepper Classic on Saturday afternoon at Chattanooga’s McCallie School against Red Bank.

The Lions held a slim lead after the first quarter, 9-7, but got hot in the second as they scored 30 points to grab a 39-17 advantage at halftime. Red Bank was able to pull away even further in the second half to win 77-47 in the final regular season game for the Red Raiders.

Brady Wright led Coffee County with 11 points, and Cooper Reed added 10. The team played without two starters, Dayne Crosslin and Jackson Shemwell. Head Coach Andrew Taylor was also unable to attend the game due to illness.

Coffee County is the #3 seed in the upcoming District 6 Class-4A tournament at 15-9 overall. They will host #2 seed Franklin County in the semifinals at 7:30 pm on Tuesday night. The #2 seed Lady Raiders host #3 seed Fraklin County in the girls’ district tournament on Monday at 6 pm. Hear both games on the Rooster 101.5, www.rooster1015, or the Rooster 101.5 app. Finals and consolation games are Friday for the ladies and Saturday for the guys.
